Tim Farron has never been a politician to sit on the fence.
The MP for Westmorland and Lonsdale MP stood down as Liberal Democrat leader after the General Election last year. Now, freed from the responsibilities of high office, he has even more leeway to speak his mind.
So expect frank and forthright views on everything from Brexit to the chaos at Northern Rail when he addresses the Chamber Summer Lunch next week.
Rob Johnston, Chief Executive of Cumbria Chamber of Commerce, said: “It’s part of our role at the Chamber to maintain a dialogue between Cumbrian businesses and the influencers at Westminster.
“Arguably, it’s more important now than ever given the worrying rise in anti-business rhetoric we’ve detected from politicians of all parties.
“This is an opportunity for Cumbrian businesses to meet Tim Farron and raise the issues that affect them.
“It’s also a chance to hear his take on the political landscape, local and national. He’s a natural public speaker, who doesn’t mince his words, so I anticipate an entertaining and insightful presentation.”
The event provides one of the best business networking opportunities in the South Lakes, all in the beautiful surroundings of the Laura Ashley Belsfield Hotel at Bowness-on-Windermere.
It takes place next Friday, June 15th, from 11.30am, and comprises a three-course lunch followed by tea or coffee.
Chamber members pay £25 plus VAT, non-members £30 plus VAT.
