Influence Your Local Business Climate

We are the independent voice for business in Cumbria. We petition government and local authorities on our membership's behalf on the issues which most affect or impede the development of business.

We also have partner relationships with the local enterprise agencies, and have a memorandum of understanding with the regional development agency, which gives us a unique position in representing business interests in Cumbria.

We organise affinity groups, events and seminars to encourage communication between the key strategists and influencers in the region and the business community.

REPRESENTING THE BUSINESS COMMUNITY

The Chamber of Commerce has been representing business interests in Cumbria for many years. Through our network of local offices we work closely with businesses and understand their needs.

The 5 key concerns for businesses throughout Cumbria are:

  • Transport congestion
  • Economic development including planning and housing
  • Business Crime & Anti-social Behaviour
  • Education, Skills & Recruitment
  • Development of Carlisle Airport

CAMPAIGNING FOR BUSINESS ISSUES

We are in regular contact with local authorities, district and county councils, MPs, MEPs and Government to ensure that the business voice is heard and understood. Our current campaigns include:

  • Air transport over the next 30 years
  • Improved car, rail and public transport in our region
  • Cutting red tape for business
