Chamber Projects
At Cumbria Chamber, we always looking for new and innovative ways to support local business. We are currently involved in a number of projects with other organisations:
Cumbria Digital Development Network (CDDN)
The CDDN project is being established to ensure that the region's people and businesses benefit from the new opportunities created by the digital revolution. The project is funded by NWDA and is to be hosted by Cumbria Chamber at its Carlisle offices.
Its role is to help identify ICT priorities for the region, seek projects to address them and to work to secure the resources to do so.
The CDDN will not undertake projects directly itself. Rather, it will work with appropriate local partners to make things happen.
Knowledge Transfer Partnerships
In collaboration with St. Martins College the Chamber has agreed to Chair the Regional Centre of Excellence for Knowledge Transfer Partnerships, which in turn is supported by the DTI.
KTPs aim to strengthen the competitiveness and wealth creation of the UK by the stimulation of innovation in business through collaborative partnerships with the UK knowledge base.
E-skills UK - Business IT Guide
The Chamber is currently working with e-skills UK - the Sector Skills Council for IT & Telecoms - to develop an on-line business support tool - the 'Business IT Guide'.
It will enable SMEs to diagnose business issues and opportunities that could benefit from the application of ICT and will support them in taking the requisite action.
Graduate Placement Programme
Following our extemely successful Graduate Placement Programme in 2005, the Chamber is currently developing a similar project in conjunction with St. Martins College.
